The Spring/Summer 15 press day merry-go-round continues to whirl and today I stopped by at ASOS' magnificent Egyptian-style HQ in Mornington Crescent to get a taste of next season's offering. The online retailer is known for giving its customers a huge amount of choice, covering every trend going plus everyday essentials and extra special occasionwear.
The first rails I encountered were crammed with colourful, cartoony pieces covered in slogans and sequins and muppet-style shaggy knits. Perfect for extroverts and club kidz.
Quirky accessories couldn't fail to raise a smile from even the most cynical fashion hack (i.e. me).
ASOS Africa made a strong showing with appealing prints and cool colourways - I particularly loved the beetle that made a sneaky appearance on the grey rose print.
And then a sight to set my heart aflutter - the heavenly ASOS Grace collection. This was seriously impressive - it's almost impossible to do the clothes justice on screen but they were real showstoppers. Romantic, floor-sweeping gowns, full-skirted prom-style dresses and separates featured extravagant embroidery, lush prints in vivid shades and were encrusted with colourful beads.
They were perfect for bridesmaid duties (they've cleverly designed several different styles of dress in the same print so you can mix and match), school proms, weddings and other fancy outings.
Oh to be 16 again and choosing a knockout frock for the prom. And the nice thing is these dresses aren't ridiculously expensive - sure they cost more than the average ASOS party dress, but they are extremely reasonable compared to the rest of the high street.
The dress below was actually heavy with richly textured embroidery and had beautiful full skirts that stood away from the body at the hips like proper 18th century panniers. I am desperately trying to think of an occasion that I can wear this to next year, but might just buy it anyway as it is such an exquisite thing.
And to finish things off, lovely chubby pearl earrings managing to look both modern and timeless, sitting on an iridescent background. I would wear these with anything - the fancy gowns from the Grace collection, or equally a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. They are so cool.
