A preview of ASOS Bridal

April 11, 2016

If I was getting married this year, there is no freakin' way I'd be spending precious wine money on an overpriced frock when ASOS have such beautiful, affordable gowns in their new bridal collection that look as lovely (if not lovelier) as their costlier counterparts. An epic skirt with a simple silk t-shirt and one of their embellished collars - very Olivia Palermo understated Hamptons luxe, no?

Or for the modern, minimalist bride, the strapless playsuit (playsuit is such an inadequate word for this piece) with its giant bow and wide trousers worn with slicked back hair and a vivid magenta mouth. Such a chic statement.

Actually these collars would work just as well for wedding guests looking to jazz up an otherwise plain outfit - a simple shift dress, or a tee-and-skirt combo.

Bridesmaids haven't been forgotten - they have a huge range of delicious chiffon and print and general prettiness to pick from.

The attention to detail and level of craftsmanship is impressive - fabrics feel weighty and expensive, embroidery and beadwork are rich, and the colours are striking and vivid - a far cry from a lot of wedding-wear with so often tends to be washed out and insipid. There are sharp trouser suits and separates for those who don't fancy a trad frock that look perfectly wedding appropriate. And again, you just can't argue with those prices - there's no sense of compromise.
